i love this clip

working on my first good mix tape. I guess ill find out if I can even handle mixing good

So there I am watching TV when I suddenly remember a pair of headphones in the cabinet directly in front of me. Suddenly a vintage pair of sennheiser hd420 emerges . perfect conditions. Sounds amazing. A whooping 600 ohms. Requires power from a special amp but still works on my phone….

I’m excited to try them with my Sensa I ordered.

High quality audio turns me on.

This $50 mp3 player that can be found at walmart for even $40 may look cheap and junky but it actually has a better audio processing than any iPod you could buy.  With a very low impedance its perfect for just about any headphones and is capable of incredible sound… And only $40 or cheaper!

Using some software and some USB audio cards I have created my own Sound Mixer and Sound refinement system.

The concept is simple and rivals thousand dollar systems.

First a windows based computer in a small box with a flat panel LCD touch screen monitor. The monitor will take up most of the boards interface. .

Inside will be a Large hard drive for music, os, and programs. Two USB hubs, One for Inputs and Outputs and another for IO.

Six USB sound cards will be connected to the hub. Each card offers an input and an output. Plus the existing sound output from the computer. So six Inputs, each acting as a Mic or Line level.  Six BUS outputs that can be configured in any combination plus 1 high quality main mix.

The touch screen monitor connects to the PC so you can easily control the sliders and program.   WiFi card allows the board to access wireless networks so you can still have all the full functions of a windows computer.

Feature set summary:

  • Windows x64 based computer - 1TB Storage, 4gb ram. Dual core.
  • Adobe Audition audio producing and performing software.
  • 6 Inputs @ Line or Mic level.
  • 6 line level Bus outputs.
  • ASIO Audio processing and handling
  • 21 local sends.
  • 21 effects per channel.
  • Unlimited dynamic channels.
  • Independent 32 band EQ per channel/bus
  • 1 Main mix
  • On the fly recording.
  • Effects and post processing such as Noise cancelingreverb, chorus.
  • Guitar amplification at line or preamp level.
  • Guitar distortion
  • Industry standard connections
  • Power Amplifier control board.
  • MP3, FLAC, Analysis and cleaning
  • Super easy to add more inputs or outputs via USB.
  • Modular, Universal parts.

Overall this is a easy, cheap, and very powerful alternative to a sound board like a prosonus.

Lacking/Limiting Factors: Physical interaction. 48v Mic Preamps. Analog Sound processing. Bandwidth and Sampling. ASIO can only handle so many channels, digital audio processing can only handle so many streams. In theory ASIO should handle 6 inputs and 6 outputs easy.
